Green Institute for Research & Development

GREEN INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (GIRD) is a non-profit Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to promoting environment protection and sustainable development and developing human resources of disadvantaged sections of people.

We take up action and campaign programmes on pressing environmental issues of climate change, environment pollution and degradation and promote green energy and environment-friendly products and practices

We also take up human resources development activities for the welfare and development disadvantaged sections of people such as scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, artisans, artisanal producers, differently-abled, orphans and destitute.

We undertake environment protection, promote environment-friendly products, processes and behavior, clean and renewable energy to PROTECT THE EARTH and undertake human resource development activities for the disadvantaged sections of society to ADVANCE their LIFE.

Skill Development for the Disadvantaged Sections

We undertake skills development programmes for the uneducated and undereducated youth to enable them to find decent employment or engaged in self-employment. We help them to get employed in India and abroad.

Promoting Traditional Health Care Systems and Medicinal Plants Cultivation

We promote traditional healthcare systems of India like Ayurveda, which have no adverse side effects and are affordable to the people. We have supported tribal people to cultivate medicinal plants outside forest areas in Wayanad, Kerala. We helped set up 2000 home herbal gardens in the NCT of Delhi.

Educating orphans and girl children of poor families

We support education of orphans and girl children of poor families with provision of all expenses for their food, clothes, housing and education.   Most of the beneficiaries are the unfortunate children who lost their parents during the Covid-19 epidemic. 

Protecting the Earth and Advancing Life

Protecting the Earth means sustainable development, resisting climate change, preventing environmental pollution, conserving precious natural resources – forests, water bodies, and promoting new and renewable energy sources and environment friendly produces, processes and behaviours.  

We endevaour to advance life of people and communities by working for the welfare and development of disadvantaged sections of people through educational, skill development and healthcare and nutrition enhancement programmes.

Participation in G-20 Working Group Meeting on Sustainable Tourism

We participated and contributed to the deliberations of the G-20 Working Group meeting on Tourism held in Goa. 

Mr. Shamsuddeen A.K. was invited to this meeting as a special guest.  We put forward concrete suggestions for measures to undertake to ensure sustainable tourism and we are working on some of the measures like freeing tourist places from plastic menace and prevention of littering of water bodies near tourism places.   

 

National Conference on Beating the Plastic Menace 

A National Conference was held on the subject of “Beating the Plastic Hazard: Challenges and Strategies” on the 4th June 2018, i.e., on the eve of the World Environment Day 2018. The Conference was held in view of the UN’s adoption of the theme of “Beating Plastic Pollution” for the World Environment Day 2018, the global level programmes for which were officially hosted by India. We associated with the Delhi Technological University(DTU)’s Department of Environmental Engineering in holding the National Conference. The Conference was attended by eminent scientists and expert environmentalists and participants from scientific and technological institutes, NGOs, social leaders and industry representatives from different parts of the country.
